Good Deeds Get Rewarded - Stay positive in this economy and pay it forward with good deeds for one another. Last night I was in Walgreen's picking up a couple of prescriptions. I was tired from working, in a hurry to get home, it was frustrating to get in line behind a customer who was having a problem checking out. She had to pay with part cash and part debit card. My patience was not the best because I had to wait, the debit card was declined, she tried it twice. I was doing everything but saying out loud hurry up, then it came to me, there were a few times in years past when someone had to wait on me. When the card would not be accepted for the 3rd time, the only thing that seemed right was to hand the cashier the $5 the lady needed to finish her purchase. The customer was very appreciative. When I left the store another customer came up to me, wanted to know if I had helped pay for the previous customer's purchase. I told her I had, and that it wasn't a big deal. The next thing that happened she put some money in my purse, I tried to explain it wasn’t necessary thinking she had just given me back my $5, when I looked at the bill, it was $100. I ran out to her car tried to get her to take the money back, she just kept saying, one good deed deserves another and drove off. You never know when life is going to send you into a tailspin. A lady came into my office she needed to borrow $1000 on her car title. Her daughter had just been to the Doctor, due to having a sore throat. During the visit with the doctor, her daughter mentioned feeling dizzy when getting up fast, shortness of breath when she went up stairs. This is a young girl, only 15 years old. In this time in our lives when everything is changing, it is nice to find people still come together to help those less fortunate than themselves. The Miracle League of Las Vegas & Opportunity Village joined hands in building a new baseball field for disabled children. The ground breaking was today. The field is going to be covered in recycled rubber, this makes it easier for the children, it will also be helpful for the environment, the rubber will not be going in a landfill. This will give these children a chance to be just like anyone else. The satisfaction the volunteers will receive, will give them immense pleasure for a lifetime. The field is near the First Christian church on Rancho. If all goes well, the children will be playing on this field in October.

Valley of Fire Taking an hour drive north of Las Vegas, you come to one of the most beautiful areas in the world. You enter The Valley of Fire National Park, it is oldest state park in Nevada. It opened in 1935, there are 34,880 acres. The name Valley of Fire comes from the red sandstone formation, they were formed, during the dinosaur age. They look as if they are on fire. You will see many forms of rock art left by the Anasazi, an ancient pueblo people; they were farmers in Moapa Valley, from 300 B.C. to A.D. 1150. They would have used this land for hunting, food gathering, religious ceremonies; lack of water would have made long stays impossible. Many movies have used this location: Captain Kirk from Star Trek Generation lost his life in a fall. There are picnic areas, hiking. There is no off-roading allowed.
