Rock n Roll with the Las Vegas Marathon The Las Vegas Marathon is an old standby in Las Vegas, there is an extreme makeover being done to the race, since it is under new management. The new plans for the race are that the racers will be staying on the strip. This will be a real experience for the runners who have come from out of town, they may never have another chance to run up the Strip. There will be music by local and regional bands, along the way. At each water station there will be a competition. They expect to have about 20,000 runners. This will provide a nice income for the city, because all these runners will bring family and friends. With this participation the expected revenue will be 40 million for the community and an added 1 million in tax revenue. The race will be held December 6, 2009. Vegas Cruisin

Cruisin Today I was looking for something special for a friend and me to do on her birthday. I was told they have a cruises out on Lake Mead. I looked up the information the Desert Princess looks like an old riverboat. There are a variety of trips you can take, you can take just a regular mid-day cruise, it cost about $24 per adult, and $12 per child this leave every day at 12 pm and 2 pm there is a snack bar and the Paddlewheel Grill on board. There are 2 special cruises Sunday you can go on the Brunch Cruise it is $39 per adult or $18 per child. This tour leaves at 10 am. You can also take the dinner cruise it is $49 per adult or $25 per child. The dinner cruise is available Sunday through Thursday; they leave at 6:30 pm. What a great treat this would be to share with someone.

Smile Meter I was on the internet came across an article, it was about Japanese train workers, and at certain stations, before they go to work they check their smiles. The employee sits in front a laptop that has a digital camera. When the employee looks into the camera the software will give an instant rating. Maybe you come to work, you have had a few problems, you don’t smile, and it will give you a score of zero. The brighter and more real your smile appears to the camera the higher your score. The company installed this program to help the workers make sure they are putting their best face or in this case smile forward. I know from experience that the way you interact with your customers, either in person, or on the phone, they will react to your facial expressions, and your tone of voice. If you are on the phone you may try smiling as you pick up the phone. This gives the caller, a more welcoming voice. You give them the last address where your pet was seen, it becomes the starting point. This system is designed to call your neighbors, to let them be on the look out for your pet. With most phones having caller ID, if your neighbor is not home when they call, the neighbor has the number to call back. The message that is left describes your pet, gives a call back number, and the website address. They can either contact you directly or contact FindToto. Mining Country Goldfield, NV National Parks Registry

Mining Country I was reading the paper today and found that Goldfield, NV. is being looked at to be added to the National Parks registry. Back in the early part of the 20th century Goldfield was the biggest city in Nevada. At one time it was as big and bustling as Virginia City. Per Senator Reid the town had 30,000 people. The survey that was done last year says Goldfield has a lot of potential, even if it doesn't become a national park, the survey indicated that it should at least get historical landmark status, then look at adding to the park system. The importance comes from the fact it was one of the last great mining camps. Wyatt Earp lived there. They had championship boxing and labor unrest. The Goldfield hotel was one of the best in the state. Many of the current residences think the hotel is haunted. The hotel had tennis courts, who would have thought miners would have time to play tennis. Goldfield is in Esmeralda County, it is about 3 hours from Las Vegas.

Pet Lovers Today has been an interesting day. I had a client do a loan because her dog had been hit by a car. She was not sure if the dog would even live, after all the surgery that was needed. It was a real pleasure to have this client come by the office today, not to make a payment but to thank me for all the help. And to let me know her dog is going to be fine. Kids in Las Vegas I have been doing some research, as a grandparent you have your grandchildren come to visit, that means you become a tour director. I know there is a lot to do in Las Vegas for adults. I am amazed at the variety of things for children. Circus Circus is a great way to keep them entertained. It has famous circus acts on the Carnival midway. Where else but Vegas could you see live circus acts for free. The Adventuredome is the largest indoor theme park. The park features the only double loop double corkscrew rollercoaster, The Canyon Blaster. Maybe wild animals are a favorite of you children. The White tiger Habituate is the place to go the tigers belongs to Siegfried & Roy, they are open for viewing around the clock. For more wild animals the Lion Habituate at MGM may fit the bill Is your family in for speed how about the Roller coaster at NASCAR Cafe, it goes 70 miles per hour. But maybe you would like to take a slower pace, there are the Gondola rides at the Venetian, you float along and the gondoliers sing to you. Family Visit A very nice woman came to my office today. She was driving around trying to find the best place to do a title loan. Her grandchildren lived out of state, they were out of school for the summer, she knew their mom needed a break and she needed some time to spoil them.
